So back in '04 sometime after heroes was created sega decided to make a 3D endless runner sonic game for the DS systems but it was cancelled for unknown reasons, there hasn't been much info on the game besides what was just said really, but it took place in seaside hill(the same as sonic dash) and it was going to have boosting and such, but were this to have been fully release, it would've became the first sonic game for the NDS and perhaps the first 3D sonic game overall for a handheld system, but instead sonic rush took that the spot for becoming the first ds sonic game.
So DISCUSS!

I never new the DS could handle that 3D model it looks like a lower quality heroes model.
Also if you guys notice the goal theme is sonic advances start screen theme.

Could have been a budget thing, thus why they chose Sonic Rush over this. Not to mention it fits better on mobile in my opinion (now if only the android version was free like the apple version)

I guess it was certain errors or things wrong with the game, like notice how slow sonic was running while boosting I mean that was just horrible to look at, and maybe this just didn't appear to seem good to the fans, although all that screaming in the backround...

Might as well be canceled as there Sonic Dash surpasses this on many levels.

It would still be interesting to see the ROM of this though.

Yeah, I would hope that someone like Andrew75 from Sonic Retro (the guy who is re-making Sonic Xtreme with better graphics) would try to make this game from scratch or something.

I doubt that, considering they would most likely see it as a Sonic Dash prototype too.

Seriously? You're JUST Learning about this game NOW?

I doubt that, considering they would most likely see it as a Sonic Dash prototype too.The fact that this is just a prototype doesn't matter, this actual proves that a 3D sonic game can be on handhelds and it should be brought up as a DS rom, besides some people can't get sonic dash(WTH is the android version at???????) so it would be good to have something like it, I don't understand how sonic dash supasses this its the exact same thing with, if there was to be more info on this game it would probably have the same characters, objectsn and enemies to.

Yep (I was only going to say "yep" but this website requires me to at least have 5 characters in the message box before posting).

Sonic Dash is not exactly like this.
You don't rub your finger rapidly to make Sonic run.
There's no obstacles in this prototype.
It may have the same level as Sonic Dash, but it's nothing like it.
If anything, it was a demo SEGA made to show off how the DS handles Sonic's speed and model.

You gotta remember, this was like after Sonic Heroes in like 04.

Yeah.

This probably if anything was more of a beta to sonic rush in a way. You can never be too sure.

I still think it was just SEGA showing off Sonic on the DS.

If this was so successful (as in sonic actually being in 3D on a DS) then why wasn't any other games made in 3D featuring sonic using the DS features(besides the obvious mario and sonic titles).

You do know that the DS has many limitations, yes they could make a really nice 3d sonic game on it but there will always be a certain problems for example framerate issues are probably number one on the list, then glitches would come next.

But there are many 3D games on the DS though so this can prove that if what mario 64 DS can be in fully 3D on a DS then a 3D sonic title could've been.

That's true, I don't think that they couldn't make this game properly on DS, they just didn't want to.

Just a bunch of errors, at least this proved that sonic can be in a 3D game on a DS, so technically this was the first 3D handheld sonic game...

Sonic 3D Blast!
Just kidding I know that you meant "the first 3D handheld sonic game on DS".

Funding easily could have played a part.

Is that a Sonic Battle Idle head at the bottom?

- - - - - - - - - -

Two questions
1. Is that a sonic battle head at the bottom?
2. Why is it cancelled?

- - - - - - - - - -

Is that a sonic battle sprite of Sonic's head?

- - - - - - - - - -

oops lol

It wasn't cancelled, this is a demo that SEGA released showing what the DS can do, so basically, its a tech demo.

It kinda looks like the mobile game Sonic Dash.
