Yoshi finally makes another appearance in a game that mainly focuses on him and baby Mario. "A sequel to the 1995 game Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island and the 2006 game Yoshi's Island DS." ~ Quoted from Wikipedia

I've waited for this game for so long! And it's finally set for a release on March 14, 2014 for North America and Europe, it will be playable on the Nintendo 3DS/3DSXL/2DS consoles!

Already watched the trailers and gameplay teasers and all that.
Imho, don't really like it. The first one will always be the best one (especially after the abomination that the DS one was).

(especially after the abomination that the DS one was).
I never really looked at how the Nintendo DS gameplay was.

Nintendo has been teasing this for awhile now. I think it looks terrible. Something just looks...off about the art style...everything looks squiggly and strange. This isn't Yoshi's Story, Nintendo, this is Yoshi's Island we're talking about!
It actually looks kind of creepy.

Looks like Creepypasta had an influence on this game then.

How does it not look like Yoshi's Island?

(excuse the large picture)
They look pretty much the same to me, except Yoshi's New Island's 3D-ish graphics.

On the SNES it had charm...but when you put it in 3D models it looks strange.

I agree with Rex, it lost a lot of the charm it had in the SNES.
To be honest, I think they should've went with HD-ish (kinda like Sonic 4 Episode 1) 2D sprites.
Besides that, I don't like that seemingly you have to stop to aim at a target, wich makes the flow of the game stop completely. Shooting at stuff while jumping and running around made the original a lot of fun to me.

Holy cow, could you imagine that? A yoshi's island remake with hi res versions of the original sprites, new areas, and new music! That would be amazing.
I think Nintendo needs to stop living in the past with all the remakes.
I mean seriously, Doctor Luigi, Link Between Worlds (although that one was amazing), NES Remix, and now we have this 'Yoshi's New Island' which looks almost exactly like the original.

I don't mind some of the changes made for the 3ds, because this sequel has differ from the previous games. I'm certainly taking a liking to throwing "the giant egg" and playing in some new levels.

The giant egg from the trailer looks kinda gimmicky to me.
BESIDES HOW THE HECK DOES YOSHI SWALLOW THAT SHY GUY!?!

I believe "overthinking" videogames is something that not only severly limits games aimed towards kids, but also makes games too similar to each other, and thus dull. This Giant Egg idea, and illogical eating theme seem fine, heck, kirby does a similar move but no-one questions him eating bonkers in one gulp.

I was joking you know.
And Kirby is an alien so that would actually make sense.

In the battle of alien vs dinosaur, this still comes down to the fact we are overthinking this concept.

Some things sorta bug me, in the original Mario had some moments when he was playable so it was his chance to shine, but now they took that ability to play as him away which is kinda sad, I wish everything isn't going to be the same though.

Just because they never said or released any trailer or details on that doesn't mean it's never going to be a feature.

In the latest trailer it shows yoshi touching a superstar which if you known before allowed mario to have been somewhat playable for like 7 secs before being yoshi again but know you just play as a superstar yoshi who can run super fast and run up walls and crap thus taking the one time as playing as mario away.

Just because it was like that before does not mean that the feature can't or won't be revamped.
