I'm certainly not complaining, more Sonic games on steam is a very good thing. But what happened to that exclusivity deal with Nintendo that Sega signed a while back?

My personal opinion on this situation, after some discussion with some friends has come up as basically the following statement. SEGA is desperate for money and are releasing ports of older games in order to try to scrounge up money. Also, according to this article, Lost World is not the only game coming to steam, LINK (http://www.digitaltrends.com/gaming/sonic-lost-world-coming-to-steam/). An additional fact that leads me to this opinion is seen on the steam store page of SEGA products available. LINK (http://store.steampowered.com/search/?publisher=SEGA#sort_by=Released_DESC&publisher=SEGA&page=1), Most everything here released in recent months have all been some form of minor DLC, or a port/remake of a previous title, not to mention most everything here is priced under $20 with no sales going on, furthering my opinion of their desperation to make sales.

What do you all think?

But what happened to that exclusivity deal with Nintendo that Sega signed a while back?Contract was fulfilled and expired, so they're bringing it to Steam now that they no longer have that contract with Nintendo, I'm assuming.

What do you all think?I don't think it's desperation; that's kind of low. Some article I read earlier said that they want to focus on the PC market. Most PC titles are usually easy to release since most games are generally developed directly on a PC then ported to consoles.

Steam games are usually a lot cheaper overall compared to console counterparts, so the low prices really don't mean anything.

I really doubt they're bringing Sonic Lost World to Steam out of desperation. It's probably just to tide people over until Sonic 2016.

I've got my Steam account back, so I may as well try it out.

It's out now (well, technically yesterday).

Runs perfectly (has in-game options, you can even turn off...the grass, of all things), but the UI looks really terrible in high resolutions.

http://steamcommunity.com/app/329440/discussions/0/490125103623278010/ There's now a public beta branch for this game. All you need to do is go into the games properties, then betas, and choose the version listed. The important details are in the link.

I suppose mods are inevitable.
Hopefully someone at Retro finds a way to make the game better?
