    What about the use of red rings in Sonic 4 ep.II?
    I never really saw anything unlocked when I got some of them.

    Maybe sega just put them in the game to help you find more secrets paths in stages, or their just there so you can keep re-playing the stages if you missed them.

    Exactly, they just put the red rings there for more replay value, and they obviously succeeded with that aspect.

    Its kinda useless for an achievement as the award but, I guess they're okay with it as long as people are playing the game.

    I wonder if they will split the achievements in Sonic Lost Worlds (new abbreviation SLW). Like they did in sonic rivals 2, you had to unlock some costumes, pics, etc through multiplayer and single player.
